150+ Fixes Coming to The Sims 4 — Massive Quality Update Arrives November 4
EA and Maxis have just announced one of the biggest updates The Sims 4 has seen in years — over 150 community-voted fixes will arrive in the November 4 update. The patch is part of the ongoing Quality of Life Roadmap and brings not just technical stability, but a wave of small improvements players have been asking for.
What’s Included
The update covers everything from infant behavior and relationship decay to CAS bugs, career logic, and NPC behavior. It also includes some brand-new free base game items, with more details expected next week.
The official EA News Post confirms that this patch is a direct result of player feedback: since announcing the Quality of Life initiative, forum traffic and bug votes have skyrocketed — up 903%. Developers say the response helped them identify what matters most to players and prioritize fixes accordingly.
Highlights from the Fix List
- Children now more clearly inherit traits and facial features from their parents.
- Relationship decay after having a baby has been slowed down.
- Photos taken in-game no longer turn black in inventories (new saves only).
- Sims will stop checking their phones while swimming or jogging.
- Nannies and butlers now perform their duties more often — every 30 minutes instead of every 4 hours.
- Excessive townie generation has been fixed for style influencer jobs.
- “Soulmate” status now properly unlocks after building full friendship and romance levels.
Fixes Across Expansion Packs
EA’s team also touched nearly every major expansion — from Growing Together and Adventure Awaits to For Rent and High School Years. Expect smoother daycare milestones, improved ranch hand behavior, and even restored death mechanics for classic events like drowning and meteorite impacts.
“We’re committed to addressing community-raised issues consistently,” the dev team shared. “Work is already underway on the next batch of fixes planned for December and beyond.”
Developer Engagement
Senior Production Director Dave Miotke (a.k.a. “SimGuruNinja”) and Sims developer Alex will join the official Sims Discord on October 31 for a live Q&A session. They’ll answer community questions about the patch and talk about what’s next for the ongoing Quality of Life plan.
Players are encouraged to keep reporting issues and voting on The Sims 4 Bug Reports page to shape future fixes.
Why It Matters
After a year of mixed expansions and DLCs, this update signals that EA is listening — not just adding content, but repairing the foundations of the game. It’s also reassuring for modders and storytellers alike, since greater stability means fewer broken saves and smoother post-patch updates.
And with over 150 changes touching nearly every system in the game, November 4 looks set to be a genuine milestone for long-time players.
